"Anything that is complex narrative storytelling---one-hour dramas, narrative miniseries, character-driven movies for television---advertisers don't believe there is an audience under fifty for these kinds of shows."
---Susan Lyne, former president of ABC Entertainment
quoted by Ken Auletta in the New Yorker 3/28/05

White Smoke for the Red States

Congratulations, fundamentalist evangelical protestants and neocons, you've got yourself a pope! He's the guy who advised U.S. Bishops to deny sacraments to the likes of John Kerry, and warned U.S. voters that a vote for the likes of Kerry could send them to hell, and he did so during the 2004 campaign. Oddly enough, the margin for Bush in Catholic votes made the difference, if you have that kind of faith in the integrity of the voting process in 04.

That he's one of the few remaining veterans of the Nazi Youth has to be considered just a little bonus.

Black Smoke for Bolton

Sorry, we do not have a UN Ambassador.

"But do I think John Bolton would make a good ambassador to the United Nations? Absolutely not.He is incapable of listening to people and taking into account their views. He would be an abysmal ambassador."
