Death is personal. We only know our own loss. I count myself fortunate that I was a Lakers fan during Kobe's best years, and so I saw a lot of what he did on televised games. I taped many of the playoff games, both from the Shaq era and the Gasol era, and once in awhile I watch them again.
Of course his life was cut short, and it's even harder to see this happen to a child. But while he lived Kobe had an amazing life, and it looks like his daughter Gigi was having a particularly happy life recently. Their lives were full. Kobe was a mentor to many. Now their deaths will teach as well.
