West Wing Clipped?

Aaron Sorkin, according to the buzz, left "The West Wing" at least partly due to differences with NBC over political content, both of "The West Wing" and NBC news. The series ratings had dropped this past season and NBC apparently felt part of the reason was that the show's politics (and Sorkin's) are "out of step" with Bushville America. (Yeah, and that's why we watched it.) So Sorkin gave them a final plot arc and a melodramatic last episode that---as nobody else has yet pointed out---exactly mirrors his own situation. President Barlett/Sorkin essentially abdicated, though without necessarily relinquishing all control, leaving the future course of the Barlett presidency/West Wing series unknown, and his/their abdication leaves control in the hands of Republicans/NBC's desire for the show to be more patriotically in tune with...Republicans.

What will Barlett/Sorkin and the Republican president/NBC do next? Stay tuned next fall.
